Haze Weekend in Singapore: Indoor Things to Do and Places to Eat Under a Roof

On a haze weekend, keep it indoors: the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay ($12 for resident adults, 9am to 9pm), the National Gallery and National Museum (free for citizens and PRs, 10am to 7pm) and Jewel's Rain Vortex (10am to 10pm) are all under a roof. Check the PSI first, then eat inside a mall rather than at a hawker centre.

At Very Unhealthy (201 to 300), MOH says healthy people should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion, and the elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise outdoor activity. HealthHub says to keep doors and windows shut when the air gets worse. Today's readings and what each band means are in our haze explainer. Going to Halloween Horror Nights 14? Indoor things to do, by area

Civic District. National Gallery Singapore, daily 10am to 7pm, free general admission for Singaporeans and PRs ($20 for others). National Museum of Singapore, daily 10am to 7pm, permanent galleries free for citizens and PRs with NRIC.

Marina Bay. Flower Dome, 9am to 9pm, $12 resident adult, closed for maintenance on 16 November. Cloud Forest, 9am to 9pm, $26 resident adult, closed on 26 October; it has loud sound effects and flashing lights for its Jurassic World show. ArtScience Museum, 9am to 6pm: "Into the Ocean" runs to 1 November from $19.50 for residents (Mon to Thu local rates), and teamLab Future World is from $28 (Mon to Thu local rates).

East. Jewel Changi Airport: the Rain Vortex runs 10am to 10pm, with light and music shows at 8pm and 9pm, plus 10pm Friday to Sunday. Canopy Park's basic ticket is $6 for Singapore residents, covering four attractions; the nets, maze and bridge cost extra.

Sentosa. The Singapore Oceanarium lists adult tickets from $55 in its admission box, though its own FAQ says from $49, so check at checkout.

Places to eat under a roof

Many hawker centres are naturally ventilated, so a haze weekend is a mall weekend. Our mall food guides list what is inside each one, with units and hours: Jewel, Raffles City, Funan, Plaza Singapura, VivoCity and Bugis Junction.

If you are at Jewel for the Rain Vortex, KANTIN is inside Jewel at #05-206, under the glass canopy. By its own description it is Singapore's only Bornean kitchen, doing Sarawak laksa and chicken cooked in bamboo. Book KANTIN on Eventful Tables so you are not queuing with the whole airport.

If the PSI goes over 200

Cut the outdoor parts. The Kallang suspends outdoor activities at Very Unhealthy levels, including at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, and ActiveSG has already closed outdoor and non-air-conditioned facilities in the West. Vulnerable family members can use the air-conditioned haze shelters at Community Clubs. For workouts that still work, see indoor gyms, climbing and courts with prices.

Good to know

· Go to Gardens by the Bay early. The Cloud Forest is shut on 26 October and the Flower Dome on 16 November.

· Citizens and PRs: bring your NRIC for free entry to the National Museum.

· Plan meals inside malls. Many hawker centres are naturally ventilated.

· Book dinner at Jewel ahead on weekends, it is busy even without the haze.
