Funan used to be the place you went for a hard drive and a haggle. It reopened as something else entirely: an indoor cycling path, a rooftop urban farm, a cinema, and a food line up that leans much harder on independent local names than a mall this central usually does.
The food is spread rather than stacked, so the unit number matters. There is also an underground link from Basement 2 straight to City Hall station, which makes this the easiest wet weather lunch in the Civic District.

The list, floor by floor
1. Noodle Star K
Their own listing calls it the first restaurant in Singapore to serve handmade cold noodles. Korean naengmyeon done seriously, which is a strange and welcome thing to find in a mall.
2. Big Appetite
The food court, and the practical answer. Their own listing has it open from 8am, which is earlier than the mall, so it is also the breakfast option.
3. Sanook Kitchen
Halal Thai at wallet friendly prices. It is the easiest group meal in the building when someone in the group needs halal.
4. Kopi & Tarts
A local halal coffee concept built around kopi and egg tarts. Small, cheap, and better than it needs to be.
5. Tonkotsu Kazan
Volcano ramen from Osaka, served bubbling in a stone bowl with a lid that gets lifted at the table. Loud, hot, fun.
6. Maji Curry
Japanese curry from the winner of the Tokyo Kanda Curry Grand Prix in 2018 and 2022, which is a real competition and a real distinction. Thick, dark, properly spiced.
7. Guzman Y Gomez
Mexican, fast, and consistent. Burritos big enough to count as two meals if you are sensible, which nobody is.
8. Hai Kah Lang
Seafood noodles, and the reason people who work nearby come here rather than the food court. Rich soup, generous with the prawns.
9. Sinpopo Brand
The Joo Chiat local classics shop, here in a coffee concept. Nanyang coffee, kaya toast, and the sort of menu that reads like someone's grandmother wrote it.
10. Wingstop
Wings by flavour, halal certified, and the sort of thing you order for a group who cannot agree.
11. PPP Coffee
Speciality coffee from the roaster formerly known as Papa Palheta. If you care about the beans, this is the stop.
12. GODMAMA
Modern Peranakan, and the most interesting sit down meal in the building. Their own listing says the kitchen recreates the family recipes of the founder's godmother. Buah keluak for people who think they do not like buah keluak.
13. Trehaus Café
A cafe attached to a family club, which means it is one of the very few genuinely child friendly cafes in the middle of town. Coffee is proper.
14. The Upper House
Grill and bar, and the closest thing Funan has to a proper night out. Useful when the cinema showing ends late.

How do I get to Funan by MRT?
City Hall station, on the East West Line (EW13) and North South Line (NS25). There is an underground pedestrian link that runs directly from Funan Basement 2 into the station, so you never have to go outside.
What time does Funan open and close?
The mall runs 10am to 10pm daily. The food court, Big Appetite, opens earlier at 8am according to its own listing, which makes it the breakfast option in the building.
Can you cycle inside Funan?
Yes, that is the unusual bit. The mall was rebuilt with an indoor cycling path running through it and end of trip facilities, which is why you will see people in cycling kit in the lifts.
Is there halal food at Funan?
Yes. 17 of the 74 places to eat at Funan are flagged halal certified in the mall's own store directory: Churros Republic, DUNKIN' DONUTS, First Bowl 壹碗, GyoGyo, Kebabs Faktory, Kopi & Tarts, LiHO, McDonald's, Old Chang Kee, Potato Corner, Saap Saap Thai, Sanook Kitchen, SMOOY, stuff'd, The Tree Cafe, Wingstop and Wok Hey. Where can I park at Funan?
The car park runs from Basement 3 to Basement 4 with over 400 lots, entered from North Bridge Road or Hill Street. There are EV charging lots on both basement levels near Lift Lobby A, and wheelchair access lots at Lobby A and Lobby C on both floors.
Is Funan still a computer mall?
Not in the old sense. It kept a tech and gadget slant when it reopened, but it is now a mixed mall with a cinema, a rooftop farm, offices and serviced apartments above it. The floors of small IT shops are gone.
