NOMADS at 2 The Oval, Seletar Aerospace Park, is an easy family meal: a kids menu at $13 a dish (bolognese pasta, chicken quesadilla with fries, or pancakes with fruit), camping chairs, mess tins and a lawn. It opens 8:30am Friday to Sunday and is closed on Tuesdays. Booking is free.

What is on the kids menu

Three dishes, all $13 before GST and service. Kids Bolognese Pasta (pasta, bolognese, butter). Quesadilla with Fries (chicken, cheddar, straight-cut fries). Kids Pancakes with Fruits (blueberries, strawberries, apple, yoghurt, maple).

For drinks, a Babyccino is $5 and a Milo Latte $7. The Milo Dinosaur ($9) is technically a smoothie with banana and honey, which is how you sell it to a parent.

Why kids like it here

Everything is camp gear. Food comes in metal mess tins, seats are camping chairs, and outside there is grass to run on and tents you can ask for when you book. It is not a quiet cafe where a dropped spoon gets stares.

A Google reviewer wrote that a kids' cycling group stopped here after a road training ride, which tells you the crowd. For the full picture of the place, read our first look at NOMADS.

What the adults eat, and what it costs

Parents get the real menu. Bigman's Breakfast $28 in the morning, or the $32 Shrimp Boil Foil later in the day. Mess tin rice runs $18 to $25.

A family of four with two kids' meals, two adult mains and drinks lands around $100 to $120 before tax, then about 20% more for GST and service. Every price is in our NOMADS menu and prices guide. More family spots are in our list of kid-friendly restaurants in Singapore.

When to go and how to book

Go at 8:30am on a weekend or late afternoon. Midday on the lawn is hot, and evenings bring mosquitoes. Pack repellent either way.

NOMADS is at 2 The Oval, Singapore 797860, a drive or Grab from Sengkang or Punggol. Open Mon, Wed and Thu 11am to 11pm, Fri and Sat 8:30am to midnight, Sun 8:30am to 11pm, closed Tuesdays. You can book NOMADS free on Eventful Tables for up to 7. There is no booking discount. Not halal: pork is on the menu.
