What is in the bowl

Boat noodles, guay tiew reua, are a Bangkok street dish named after the boats they were once sold from. The broth is dark, rich and spiced, the bowls traditionally small.

2GATHER's version, from its own menu: bean sprouts, pork liver, pork meatballs and tender pork slices, fresh herbs, lime and fried garlic. Choose pork meatball and pork slice as standard, or pay $3 more for beef slices. Pig blood curd is a $1 add-on, and it is the authentic move. Prices are before GST and a 10% service charge, per the printed menu.

How much

On 2GATHER's site the bowl is $12.90. The printed menu has a meatball-only version at $12.90, meatball with pork slice at $14.90 and meatball with beef at $15.90, so ask which build you are getting.

At lunch, the Thai Boat Noodle Set is $12.90 with a drink, which is the better deal if you are eating alone. More on that in our $9.90 Suntec set lunch guide.

Is it worth it?

For a mall in the CBD, a proper boat noodle with liver and blood curd is rarer than it should be. 2GATHER's own Instagram says the bowl "definitely brings you back to Thailand". That is their claim. Ours: order it with the blood curd, squeeze the lime, and do not skip the chilli flakes on the table if they offer them.

Hungry? Add Thai Moo Ping, grilled pork skewers, at $15.90 for five. Want the rest of the menu? Our 2GATHER guide has it.
