For a halal buffet with kids during the 2026 year-end school holidays (21 November to 31 December), Family Hakata at 728 Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 charges $14.90 nett for children 100cm to 140cm and $19.90 for adults. It is MUIS certified under the Eating Establishment Scheme (certificate EEHK26070000062), and weekday bookings from 1pm to 4pm get 10% off food.

What kids pay, and what they eat

Children 100cm to 140cm pay $14.90 nett. The menu does not list a price for kids under 100cm, so ask the outlet when you book. Adults are $19.90 nett, minimum 2 per booking.

Kids go straight for three things: lok lok skewers, the cheese dip on the pan, and the freezer of ice pops. Hotdogs, nuggets, cheese tofu and fishballs are on the counter too. Fruit and cake are included. Parents get the seafood, which is the real reason to come.

The weekday afternoon trick

School holidays mean you are free on a Tuesday at 2pm. Use it. Mon to Fri, 1pm to 4pm, Eventful Tables bookings get 10% off food. Mon to Thu, 5pm to 8pm gets 5%. Only 5 bookings per timing get the deal, and none on public holidays.

A family of two adults and two kids pays $69.60 nett. With 10% off food on a weekday afternoon, that comes down to about $62.64. Afternoons are quieter too, which matters when someone small is holding a hot skewer.

Keeping it safe at a hot grill

Mookata is a charcoal pan on the table. Sit kids on the side away from the pan, give them the lok lok (already cooked in the soup, easy to hold) and let an adult work the grill.

If they are old enough to cook, put them on soup duty. Fishballs in, fishballs out, nobody near the dome. Our general how-to-eat-mookata guide has the basics.

Where, when and how to book
