Five honest reasons @eventful_sg crossed 10 million monthly views, and none of them are a posting schedule. One, we did not care that the early content was bad. Two, we were delusional about how good we were. Three, we were desperate, after roughly nine failed attempts. Four, we already knew content was the strength and leaned on it. Five, luck, right place and right time.
Not caring, being delusional and being desperate are one behaviour described three ways: we kept posting when the numbers said stop. The early stuff was trashy, and looking back at those first posts is genuinely uncomfortable. But nine failed attempts before this one is the actual number, and the only skill that carried across all of them was being willing to publish something bad in public and go again the next day. That is unglamorous and it is the whole thing.
Knowing what you are already good at, and pushing it further than feels reasonable. Content creation was the strength, so it got leveraged hard rather than balanced against six other priorities. At the time of the post the account was at 871 posts and 48.7K followers, with 8.2 million views in the previous 30 days on the professional dashboard, which is what that looks like on the screen instead of in a caption.
Luck. Being in the right place at the right time, with a format that matched what Singapore was scrolling for that year. Everyone who has grown an account fast had this and most of them leave it out of the list, which is how growth advice ends up sounding like a formula. The honest version is: do the first four, then be around long enough for the fifth to happen. If you want the business side of the same story, we wrote up what our first client actually paid.
· Your first posts will be bad. Publish them anyway, they are the cost of finding the format.
· Nine failed attempts is the real number behind this one. Survivorship makes it look like one clean run.
· Lean into the one thing you are already good at rather than fixing everything at once.
· Anyone selling you growth without mentioning luck is selling you something.
Over 10 million monthly views across the network. At the time of the post the Instagram professional dashboard showed 8.2 million views in the previous 30 days.
48.7K followers and 871 posts on Instagram at the time of the post.
Continuing to post through bad early content and roughly nine failed prior attempts. Everything else is downstream of not stopping.
No. Four of the five reasons are behaviour and the fifth is luck, which is the part most growth advice leaves out.
