Can't Decide Where to Eat With Friends? The 2-Minute Fix for Group Chats

When the group chat can't decide where to eat, one person takes Makan Match at eventful-sg.com/makan-match, taps "A whole group", and shares the 15 spots it returns, all in under two minutes, free, no app. Group answers push up hotpot, Korean BBQ, mookata and zi char, the kind of places built for a long table.

Why group chats stall

Six people, six "anything also can", then one veto per suggestion. The fix is to stop asking for ideas and start asking yes or no. Makan Match does that: eight two-button questions, one of which is "How many of you?". Pick "A whole group" and the scoring leans to places that handle a crowd.

The avoid screen is your veto filter. If one friend does not eat beef, or someone hates hotpot, tick it once and places whose cuisine or name matches are dropped for everyone. For a bigger list, see our group dining guide.

Group spots the quiz might give you

Family Mookata, Ang Mo Kio, Yishun and Jurong West. Charcoal mookata buffet, $19.90 nett for adults and $14.90 for kids. Book Family Mookata AMK, or read what the buffet includes.
Family Hakata, Ang Mo Kio. The MUIS halal-certified sister, same $19.90 nett. Book Family Hakata.
Seoul Garden. A halal grill and hotpot buffet by its own site. Its site says it can hold up to 150 people, with up to 7 outlets.
Suki-Ya, Bugis+, Marina Square and Plaza Singapura. 80-minute sukiyaki and shabu-shabu buffet.
8 Korean BBQ, The Central at Clarke Quay and Shaw Centre. Known for the 8 Colours pork belly set.
JUMBO Seafood. Chilli crab for when the group includes visiting relatives.
New Ubin Seafood, CHIJMES. Zi char with a ribeye on the table.

Opinion: for mixed groups with Muslim friends, Family Hakata or Seoul Garden saves a lot of back and forth. Everyone can come.

How to run it in the chat

One person takes the quiz with the group's answers, not their own. Screenshot the top five, paste them in, and give everyone two minutes to object. Silence is a yes. Then book. On Eventful Tables restaurants, the Book button is right there on the card.

Good to know

· Answer the budget question for the poorest friend in the chat, not the richest.

· Family Mookata needs at least 2 people per booking, so solo diners book elsewhere.

· Tick "Hotpot & steamboat" on the avoid screen if even one person hates it; it drops places by cuisine and name.

· Screenshot five, not fifteen. Fewer choices, faster yes.

FAQs

How do we decide where to eat as a group?

Have one person take Makan Match at eventful-sg.com/makan-match, tap "A whole group" and share the top results. It takes under two minutes.

What are good group restaurants in Singapore?

Group answers in the quiz bring up places like Family Mookata, Seoul Garden, Suki-Ya, 8 Korean BBQ and JUMBO Seafood.

Is there a halal option for big groups?

Yes. Family Hakata in Ang Mo Kio is MUIS halal-certified at $19.90 nett per adult, and Seoul Garden runs a halal grill and hotpot buffet by its own site.

Can the quiz remove food someone does not eat?

Yes. The last screen lets you tick seafood, beef, spicy, or hotpot and steamboat, and spots whose cuisine or name matches are kept off the list.

Can we book a table from the results?

Eventful Tables restaurants, like Family Mookata and Family Hakata, have a Book button on the card. Others link to Google.
