We ran a timed shopping challenge in Miniso with a clock on screen, and the honest finding is that the timer changes what you buy, not how fast you buy it. Under pressure nobody browses the back wall. Everyone grabs from the front tables, which is exactly where Miniso puts the licensed collabs and the impulse-priced things.
Miniso lays out like a convenience store, not a department store. Seasonal and licensed products sit at the entrance where the foot traffic hits, and the practical stuff, the storage boxes, the stationery, the skincare tools, sits deeper in. Give someone 90 seconds and they never reach the back. That is the format working exactly as intended, and it is why the collab plushies are always at the door.
The licensed drops, which move fast and do not come back. We have covered a few here: the One Piece pop-up at Suntec, the Spider-Man collection and the Winnie the Pooh pop-up at VivoCity. If a collab is what you came for, going in the first week matters far more than going fast.
· Licensed collab items are at the front and sell out first. Go in the opening week, not the closing week.
· The genuinely useful things, storage and stationery, are deeper in where nobody in a hurry gets to.
· Bigger stores like VivoCity and Suntec carry more of a collab range than the neighbourhood outlets.
· Check the outlet actually has the collab before travelling. Not every store carries every drop.
Almost always at the front, near the entrance, where the foot traffic is highest. The practical categories sit further back.
Rarely in full. Licensed drops are made in limited runs, so the first week of a launch is when the range is complete.
The larger ones, such as VivoCity and Suntec, carry more of a given collab range than smaller neighbourhood stores.
