Yes, you can have a proper sit-down dinner at Jewel before your flight. Drop your bags at the Jewel Early Check-in Facility on Level 1 (8am to 11:59pm, selected airlines, closes 3 hours before departure), eat, then walk 5 to 10 minutes to Terminal 2 or 3. KANTIN on level 5 seats until 9:30pm and booking is free.
Changi runs an Early Check-in Facility on Level 1 of Jewel, open daily from 8am to 11:59pm. Singapore Airlines takes you from 24 hours to 3 hours before departure (not for US flights). Scoot takes you from 18 hours to 3 hours before (not for Jeddah). Other airlines have their own windows, so check your airline on Changi's page before you plan.
Bags gone, boarding pass in hand, and you can eat without a suitcase wedged under the table. If your airline is not on the list, check in at your terminal first. Jewel reminds everyone to check in at least 2 hours before departure.
One thing to know: Jewel is on the public side, before immigration. Eat first, then clear immigration. For the full menu, see our KANTIN at Jewel guide.
Our rule of thumb: leave the table about 2 hours before departure. That leaves time for the walk, immigration and a gate that might be far.
6pm flight: bags in by 3pm, book 3pm, leave by 4pm.
9pm flight: bags in by 6pm, book 6pm, leave by 7pm.
11pm flight: bags in by 8pm, book 8pm, leave by 9pm.
Flying after midnight? KANTIN's last seating is 9:30pm and it closes at 10pm, so book the late slot and you will still have hours to spare.
KANTIN is at #05-206/207, Sarawak food under the glass canopy, open 11am to 10pm daily. If this is your last meal in Singapore for a while, at least make it something you cannot get at your destination: Sarawak laksa ($24), the Headhunter Pansuh Set cooked in bamboo ($32), or the Nanasi pineapple fried rice ($20).
There is no discount at KANTIN, so you pay menu price at every timing. What you get from booking free is the table itself, which matters at Jewel on a Friday night when you have a flight to catch. New to the food? Our 8 Sarawak dishes piece explains the menu.
KANTIN takes bookings for up to 8 people, enough for most send-off crews. The people staying behind do not need a ticket: Jewel is open to everyone.
By MRT, go to Changi Airport station, which sits between Terminals 2 and 3, then walk through the terminal to the link bridge to Jewel, 5 to 10 minutes from the departure hall by Changi's own estimate. Terminal 1 connects straight into Jewel. Flying from Terminal 4? There is no walk. A free shuttle bus runs from T1 Departure Central Kerbside, 6am to midnight, every 7 to 9 minutes, about 10 minutes each way.
For a big table, the Headhunter Feast Platter feeds three to five and saves everyone arguing over the menu.
· Book the table before you leave home. Turning up with the whole family on a Friday night and waiting is how flights get tight.
· Order at the same time as you sit down and tell the staff you have a flight. Easier than watching the clock all meal.
· Terminal 4 flyers: leave extra time for the shuttle bus from T1.
· KANTIN is not halal. For a halal send-off dinner, look at the other restaurants on Eventful Tables.
Yes. Check in at the Jewel Early Check-in Facility on Level 1 or at your terminal, then eat at Jewel. Jewel is before immigration, so eat first and clear immigration after.
About 5 to 10 minutes to Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 by link bridge. Terminal 1 connects directly to Jewel. Terminal 4 is reached by free shuttle bus from T1, about 10 minutes.
