This is what actually played, from Esplanade's own festival listing. Five stages ran at once, so the clashes were real: the Arena is the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre, LiveWire is the Forecourt Garden, Chillout is the Concourse, and the two indoor rooms are the Annexe Studio and Powerhouse² inside the Singtel Waterfront Theatre. Outdoor sets ran about 45 minutes, Chillout sets about 30.

What Baybeats cost, and why that matters

Nothing, which is the whole point of it. 2026 was the 25th edition of Singapore's biggest alternative music festival and it has been free every year since it started. You walked into the Esplanade waterfront, stood in front of a stage, watched a band. The only friction was registration for the two indoor rooms, the Annexe and Powerhouse², which filled up because they are indoors and small. Who played

48 acts, and the spread was wider than people expect from a free festival. Boris, Bilderbuch, Tramhaus, Coaltar of the Deepers, the cabs, Perunggu, The SIGIT, Typecast and Rắn Cạp Đuôi Collective were the international side. Homegrown names included Subsonic Eye, Disco Hue, Kin Leonn, The Observatory and Stopgap, with newer acts like Soggy Jeans, MUFF, Pretty Girls Cry and Mediocre Haircut Crew filling out the bill. Genres ran from shoegaze to hardcore to hip-hop. Sunday was the heaviest night, with Bhayanak Maut at 6.45pm and Boris closing Powerhouse² at 9.15pm.

What else was on around the music

Gas Attack ran its gear market on 5 and 6 September with 18 vendors selling and trading second-hand instruments and pedals, and the good pedals went in the first hour both days. Beatsverse, the Baybeats build in Roblox, went live on 4 August 2026 with songs from 23 Singapore alternative bands and in-game rewards. Esplanade's Baybeats page still listed it as available on Roblox, with no end date, when we checked on 30 September 2026. On site there were craft tables run by artist Beverley Ng: shrink-art keychains, collage your own album cover, press your own badges.

No dates yet. Esplanade has run Baybeats every year since 2002 and 2026 was the 25th edition, held 3 to 6 September, so the next one is very likely a long weekend at Esplanade in the second half of the year. Nothing about a 2027 edition had been announced on Esplanade's Baybeats page when we checked on 30 September 2026. When it is, the lineup goes up on that page, and the two indoor rooms, the Annexe and Powerhouse², were the ones that needed registration in 2026, so that is the bit to watch for.
