Baybeats is back from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 September 2026 at Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, and entry is free. The Esplanade's own listing puts 48 acts across the outdoor and indoor stages, with performances running from about 6.45pm each night. The outdoor waterfront stages need nothing at all, no ticket, no sign-up. Only the Annexe and Powerhouse2 shows ask you to register first.
Nothing, which is the whole point of it. This is the 25th edition of Singapore's biggest alternative music festival and it has been free since it started. Walk into the Esplanade waterfront, stand in front of a stage, watch a band. The only friction is registration for the two indoor rooms, the Annexe and Powerhouse2, which fill up because they are indoors and small. Do that in advance on the Esplanade site rather than at the door. If you are planning the rest of your weekend around it, our guide to what we run and the wider Esplanade calendar are worth a scroll first.
48 acts, and the spread is wider than people expect from a free festival. Boris, Bilderbuch, Tramhaus, Coaltar Of The Deepers, The Cabs, Perunggu, The SIGIT, Typecast and Ran Cap Duoi are on the international side. Homegrown names include Subsonic Eye, Disco Hue, Kin Leonn, The Observatory and Stopgap, with newer acts like Soggy Jeans, MUFF, Pretty Girls Cry and Mediocre Haircut Crew filling out the bill. Genres run from shoegaze to hardcore to hip-hop, so check the daily schedule instead of turning up and hoping.
Gas Attack runs its gear market on 5 and 6 September with 18 vendors selling and trading second-hand instruments and pedals. That is the one to arrive early for, because the good pedals go in the first hour. There is also Beatsverse, a Roblox build that went live on 4 August 2026 with songs from 23 Singapore alternative bands and in-game rewards. On site you can make shrink-art keychains, collage your own album cover and press badges at the craft tables, run by artist Beverley Ng.
