Sengkang East's food sits in three clusters: Compass One and Kopitiam Square at Sengkang MRT (NE16), Buangkok Hawker Centre one stop south at Buangkok MRT (NE15), and the Rivervale side along the east LRT loop at Rumbia, Bakau and Kangkar. This guide goes in that order, from the town centre out to Rivervale Shores.
This side of Sengkang is heavy on halal options: nine of the twelve picks are halal-certified on the MUIS register, including a coffeeshop at Rivervale Shores. Sengkang Grand Mall, which holds Buangkok Hawker Centre on level 2, has its own full directory, linked at the bottom, and Fernvale and Jalan Kayu are in our Sengkang West guide.
We checked addresses and halal status on 15 October 2026 against MUIS's register, NEA's hawker list and each venue's own pages where they exist; where a stall publishes no hours, the entry says so.
The Penang pick at Compass One, and halal-certified, with MUIS listing the Compass One outlet. Penang char kway teow and assam laksa are on its menu, so order one of each and share. Sit-down, so it is the comfortable choice with older parents.
A halal-certified patisserie on Compass One's ground floor, per the MUIS register. The place to grab a cake for a birthday dinner on the way home. Order ahead on their online shop for a specific design.
The big food court across from Compass One, and the hawker-style way to eat at the town centre. MUIS lists several halal counters here, including Sengkang Square Oyster Omelette and Munchi Pancakes. Bring a pack of tissues to chope a table at dinner.
A halal-certified oyster omelette stall. MUIS lists it at Kopitiam Square. Ask for extra chilli on the side, and eat it hot, it goes soggy fast.
NEA says this centre opened in November 2023 on level 2 of Sengkang Grand Mall with 38 cooked food stalls. It is on level 2 of Sengkang Grand Mall, next to Buangkok MRT and linked by a sheltered walkway. Several stalls are halal-certified, two of them are below.
A penyet and BBQ stall inside Buangkok Hawker Centre that MUIS lists as halal-certified. Get the smashed chicken with sambal and rice. Good if you want something with more fire than the usual hawker plate.
The pancake brand that says on its own site it is halal-certified, and this stall is on the MUIS register too. A quick sweet snack after your hawker meal, or a box to take home. Check the board for today's fillings.
A coffeeshop Western stall in Compassvale Mast that MUIS lists as halal-certified. Chicken chop with fries and coleslaw is the safe order at any stall like this. Easy walk from the MRT if Compass One is packed.
An express counter for bingsu, waffles and ice cream at Rivervale Plaza, per their own Instagram. They describe themselves as Muslim-friendly with halal suppliers, which is not the same as MUIS certification. Bingsu is made for sharing, so order one between two.
Handmade popiah and nasi lemak are the signatures on Qi Ji's own site, and the brand says its food follows halal standards. This outlet is also on the MUIS register. A good grab-and-go lunch; last orders are 30 minutes before closing.
The prata stall for this side of Rivervale, and MUIS lists this outlet as halal-certified. Hours are not posted for this branch, so check at the stall.
A coffeeshop at Rivervale Shores where MUIS lists seven stalls as halal-certified: Bakecakery, Kopistry, Mee Bagus, Mee Cik Ling, Chops & Sear, Tenderbest and Sinar Seafood. That makes it one of the easiest places in Sengkang to bring a mixed group. The MUIS-listed stalls include Mee Bagus, Mee Cik Ling and Sinar Seafood; the names say what they do.
Compass One, right next to Sengkang MRT, has Penang Culture (#03-13) and Annabella Patisserie (#01-22). Kopitiam Square at 10 Sengkang Square, about four minutes away, is the food court option.
Yes. Buangkok Hawker Centre is on level 2 of Sengkang Grand Mall at 70 Compassvale Bow, next to Buangkok MRT, linked by a sheltered walkway. NEA lists 38 cooked food stalls there.
Plenty. MUIS lists Penang Culture, Annabella Patisserie, Sengkang Square Oyster Omelette, Sunbo Express Penyet, Munchi Pancakes, Charlie's Western, Qi Ji, Srisun Prata.com and seven stalls at The Coffeehood & Tea Hall as halal-certified. Check the certificate at the counter if it matters to you.
Take the Sengkang East LRT loop. Rumbia (SE2) is about three minutes from Rivervale Mall, Kangkar (SE4) about three minutes from Rivervale Plaza, and Bakau (SE3) about seven minutes from Rivervale Shores.
The Coffeehood & Tea Hall at Rivervale Shores and Kopitiam Square at Sengkang Square both have many counters under one roof, so everyone orders their own. Buangkok Hawker Centre works too.
Sengkang Grand Mall has its own carpark, by CapitaLand; Compass One's site does not state parking details, and the Rivervale picks sit under HDB blocks with HDB carparks nearby.
