The best food in Geylang is on Geylang Road and its numbered lorongs, and a lot of it runs late. These 15 places follow a walk from Lorong 1 near Kallang MRT (EW10) to City Plaza near Paya Lebar (EW8, CC9): frog porridge until 4am, beef hor fun, dim sum, duck rice and two halal-certified picks at the end.

Aljunied MRT (EW9) sits in the middle on Sims Avenue, one block north of Geylang Road. The list opens with a detour to Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre on the Downtown Line, and the lunch-only stops, Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee and Sia Kee Duck Rice, are worth a separate daytime trip. For supper, Bali Nasi Lemak and JB Ah Meng run to 2am, and 126 Dim Sum lists itself as always open on Facebook.

In durian season the fruit stalls along Geylang Road put out their crates and plastic stools, and they are worth a stop when the fruit is in. Outside the season stock is thin, so we left them off the list. All the opening times we give were checked on the venue's own site, its own Facebook page or an official listing on 15 October 2026; where we could not confirm one, we say so.

The list

1. Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre

OPENBlk 69 Geylang Bahru, S330069 · Nearest MRT: Geylang Bahru (DT24)

The hawker centre for the Kallang end of the route, near Geylang Bahru MRT on the Downtown Line. Go at lunch, because the stalls people queue for can sell out. Start with Hui Wei's chilli ban mian, then walk the rows.

2. Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian

OPEN#01-58, Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre, Blk 69 Geylang Bahru · Nearest MRT: Geylang Bahru (DT24)

Bouncy ribbon noodles made at the stall. Get them dry, tossed in the house chilli with minced meat, meatballs, a poached egg and fried lard. They make limited batches and tend to sell out early, so come before the lunch crowd.

3. Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee

OPEN2 Jalan Ayer, off Lorong 1 Geylang, S389141 · Nearest MRT: Kallang (EW10)

The first stop off Kallang MRT, and a breakfast and lunch stall, so do not save it for supper. Order it dry, in sambal with a pile of fried scallion, and drink the prawn broth on the side. You choose from three kinds of noodles.

Quick answers

How do I get to Geylang by MRT?

Take the East-West Line. Kallang (EW10) is closest to Lorong 1 and the Lorong 9 supper spots, Aljunied (EW9) drops you on Sims Avenue in the middle of the route, and Paya Lebar (EW8, CC9) is closest to City Plaza and Mini Star. Dakota (CC8) on the Circle Line also works, with a longer walk up to Geylang Road.

Where can I eat late at night in Geylang?

Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge at 235 Geylang Road lists 11am to 4am on its own site, and 126 Dim Sum on Sims Avenue lists itself as always open on Facebook. Bali Nasi Lemak (closed Sundays) and JB Ah Meng both run to 2am, and Mini Star fermented beancurd goes to 11.30pm except Mondays.

Is there halal food in Geylang?

Yes. MUIS lists Arnold's Fried Chicken and Dapur Penyet, both at City Plaza (810 Geylang Road), as halal-certified, and its directory also lists Singapore Nasi Kandar at 232 Geylang Road and Geylang Food Corner at 269 Geylang Road. We did not find the other places in this guide on MUIS's list.

Where is the cheapest food in Geylang?

The hawker stalls at Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre, such as Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian, are the cheapest sit-down meals near the route. On Geylang Road itself, L32 Handmade Noodles does a quick bowl of ban mian, and Mini Star's own ordering page has two pieces of fermented beancurd at $5.

Where should a group eat in Geylang?

Zichar and claypot places suit groups best: JB Ah Meng for san lou bee hoon and crab, either frog porridge shop for shared claypots, and 126 Dim Sum for a long late table. If you would rather book a table somewhere, Eventful Tables lists restaurants you can reserve.

Where do I park in Geylang?

The lorongs have marked roadside lots that you pay for through the Parking.sg app, using the car park code on the roadside sign. Do not stop on the main road: LTA's own list of illegal-parking cameras includes Geylang Road near Lorong 24A and near City Plaza, plus Lorongs 25A, 26, 27 and 27A.

When is durian season in Geylang?

Durian is seasonal, and the roadside stalls along Geylang Road are busiest during the main season, which usually falls in the middle of the year. Outside it, supply is thin and prices run higher, so check a stall's page before making a special trip.
