Uncle Leong Signatures' cereal crab is worth your $38 if you like crab dry, crunchy and buttery rather than sitting in gravy. We filmed a whole 600g to 700g one on the October promo: the crab was meaty, the crumbs were properly toasted and nothing was soggy. But if it is the only crab on the table, we would order chilli first and cereal second, and this is why.
The crab comes buried under a hill of butter-fried cereal crumbs with curry leaf through it, and the shell is pre-cracked so you are not fighting it. The flavour is the one you know from cereal prawns: sweet, a little salty, a lot of butter. On a crab it works better than on prawns because there is more meat to carry it, and the crumbs stick to the roe and the leg meat. Ours was a 600g to 700g crab and two people finished it without ordering a second.
The honest downside is that it is a dry dish. There is no gravy, so the mantou trick does not apply, and the crumbs cool fast. Eat it first, not last. The full breakdown of the promo, all 14 flavours and both outlets is in our $38 crab promo guide.
If you are ordering one crab, our order of preference: chilli crab first, because at $38 for a whole crab the gravy is where the value hides and you get a second course out of it with fried mantou. White pepper second, for the table that finds chilli crab too sweet. Cereal third, as the crowd-pleaser for kids and anyone who hates messy hands. Salted egg and Hong Kong style typhoon shelter are the other two dry styles, and the typhoon shelter one is the garlicky, spicier cousin of cereal.
Oreo Butter Crab is the one everyone asks about. Uncle Leong's own account calls it Singapore's first, and it tastes like a sweeter, darker cereal crab with crushed biscuit instead of crumbs. Order it as the second crab on a table of four, never as the only one. Two crabs on the promo come to $76, against a usual price that a collab post on Uncle Leong's own account puts at $50-plus for a single small crab. The zi char side is good too, see our menu guide for the lotus root and kailan.
Any 600g to 700g crab is $38 a piece in any of 14 flavours, 1kg and above is $78 a kilo, at Joo Koon and MacPherson only, and Uncle Leong's 4 October 2026 post says it runs this October. Our overlay says $38+, so check whether GST is added at the bill.

· Eat the cereal crab first. The crumbs lose their crunch within ten minutes of landing on the table.
· Ask for the crab pre-cracked if it does not come that way. The crumbs get everywhere once you start using the cracker yourself.
· Pair it with a wet dish like crab bee hoon soup or the chilli crab so the table has gravy for mantou.
Yes, if you like dry-style crab. It is a whole crab under butter-fried cereal crumbs with curry leaf, meaty and well toasted when we filmed it. It has no gravy, so order a chilli crab alongside if you want sauce for mantou.
Our pick is chilli crab for a single crab, because the gravy stretches the $38 into a second course with mantou. White pepper is next, then cereal as the crowd-pleaser. Save Oreo Butter Crab for the second crab on a bigger table.
A 600g to 700g crab is $38 a piece in any of 14 flavours on the promo, and crabs of 1kg and above are $78 a kilo. Uncle Leong's own Instagram says the deal runs through October 2026 at Joo Koon and MacPherson.
