WEEEE by Welemon in Cheras has turned nasi lemak into a bingsu, and it is RM29.90. Their own menu lists it as a Merdeka exclusive running 21 August to 30 September 2026 only, while stocks last, at the Cheras main branch in Residensi Majestic Maxim.
The mound of coconut shaved ice is the rice. On top sits a coconut ice cream done as a sunny side up, with a mango mochi standing in as the yolk. Around it: almond flakes, raspberry jam where the sambal would be, and anchovies. Real ones. That last part is the whole decision. If dried anchovy on a dessert sounds like a dare rather than a dish, this is not going to convert you, and the shop is not pretending otherwise. It is the same instinct behind a lot of the KL dessert scene right now, which is also where the claypot coffee thing in Cheras came from.
The Cheras main branch at Residensi Majestic Maxim opens daily from 2.30pm to midnight, which makes this a supper item more than an afternoon one. The run ends 30 September 2026 and the menu says while stocks last, so a novelty item that goes viral can finish early. If you only cross the Causeway on weekends, that gives you a handful of weekends, not a season.
Be honest about what this is: one dessert, at one shop, in Cheras, which is nowhere near where most Singaporeans base themselves in KL. Treat it as a stop on a day you are already out that side rather than a reason to build a trip. WEEEE is a fruit bingsu shop the rest of the year, so if the nasi lemak version is sold out when you get there, the trip is not wasted. We would go for the novelty and stay for the coconut ice cream.
· It opens at 2.30pm, so there is no point turning up for a morning dessert run.
· Merdeka specials are the first thing to sell out on weekends. A weekday visit is the safer bet.
· The anchovies are not decorative. Ask them to leave them off if you are bringing someone who will not touch them.
· Cheras is a long way from Bukit Bintang in Friday traffic. Build in more time than the map says.
