Maju Forest and Gillman Plans Revised to Retain More Greenery

1 November 2026

Revised housing plans announced on 28 October set aside more greenery at Maju Forest and Gillman Barracks. The proposals also reduce the development footprints, with detailed design still to follow.

Two sites, different measurements

At Maju Forest, the retained green area rises from about eight to 10 hectares, around 45% of the 23-hectare study area. At Gillman Barracks, it rises from about eight to 12 hectares, around 60% of the existing greenery. These percentages use different bases.

Future nature-park connections

The retained Maju Forest area is to become a Nature Park. Gillman’s green areas will be incorporated into the upcoming Alexandra Nature Park. These plans do not mean new visitor trails are already open.

The timeline is not immediate

Gillman site works are expected from the second half of 2027, starting with building demolition; land preparation is expected in 2029. Maju Forest land preparation is expected from the first half of 2028. Check current access with venue operators.
