Main Merlion Covered for Maintenance on 24–26 November

The main Merlion statue will be covered in scaffolding for cleaning and repairs from 24–26 November 2026. Singapore Tourism Board announced the work on 27 October.

The photo stop that changes
STB says the main statue will not be available for photo-taking during the works. If that specific shot is part of your itinerary, choose another date rather than arriving expecting an unobstructed view.
The nearby alternative
The board says visitors can still take photos with the Merlion cub statue nearby in Merlion Park. Its advisory also warns that works and barricades may cause inconvenience. This notice concerns the main statue, not a stated closure of the entire waterfront.
Check the official advisory again before travelling, particularly if your visit falls at the end of the maintenance period.
