Claypot coffee at Lingtang in Cheras Business Centre, Kuala Lumpur, was RM3.50 a cup and RM7.90 for a pot that serves two when we went. You can also buy it as a pack of 20 coffee sachets to brew at home.
The pot is the one to get. RM7.90 for two works out to under RM4 each, so you pay roughly the same as two cups and get the whole show: the coffee poured from a ribbed clay jug with a rope-wrapped handle into a kopitiam cup.
We already covered the address, the hours and what claypot coffee actually is in our first Lingtang write-up. This one is about the money and the bit you can carry home.
They sell their own Classic Kopi O Kosong in a gold pouch of 20 sachets, 11g each. It is a tea-bag style mesh pouch: drop it in a cup, pour 150ml of boiling water, press it with a teaspoon and it is ready in about 2 minutes, going by the instructions on the pack.
Do not be thrown by the spelling. The shop sign says Lingtang, the pack says Lintang 138, and their socials use both. Same coffee. The back of the pack says it is made by Mountain Black Coffee in Taman Desa Cheras.
Lintang 138 started as a stall in the ICC Pudu food court, and the banner outside the new shop still bills it as Malaysia's first claypot coffee. In 2025 it moved out of ICC Pudu into an air-conditioned kopitiam at 19, Jalan 3/101C, Cheras Business Centre, Batu 5, Jalan Cheras, with other food stalls sharing the space.
It runs a split day, 7.30am to 3.30pm and then 4.30pm to 12.30am. It was closed on Thursdays when we posted about it in August 2026, so check their Facebook or Instagram before you make the drive.
· Two of you? Order the RM7.90 pot, not two RM3.50 cups.
· They close 3.30pm to 4.30pm between shifts.
· Grab a sachet pack on the way out if you want it at home. Search Lintang 138 too, not just Lingtang.
