The question he could not put down

"Will history repeat itself?" That is the line he keeps coming back to, and the second version of it is harder: "Will the business destroy my family like it did before?"

That is not a normal founder anxiety. Most people starting a company worry about running out of money. He grew up inside what running out of money does to a household, and then chose to start one anyway. Anybody who has watched a parent's business go under will recognise the specific fear, which is not of failing but of failing the same way.

What he built instead

Heritage is a six-figure business, and it has been featured on CNA and Money FM. He is straightforward that the numbers are not the part he is proud of.

The part he is proud of is being present. His words for it: to be the father he never had. The company is named for a thing he is deliberately choosing to hand down, in place of the one he was handed.

He did not just build a business. He broke a cycle, and the thing that had wrecked his family became the reason he kept going.

It is worth saying the unglamorous part out loud: this only reads as a good story because it worked. Plenty of people carrying the same fear start a company and it goes the way their parent's did. What is transferable here is not the outcome, it is that he named the fear precisely enough to build against it instead of pretending it was not there.
