Why it worked better than the bars
Free seats, hawker prices and a 24-hour kitchen beat a $15 pint and a cover charge for anyone watching a 3am game on a weeknight. The downside was the same as always at Lau Pa Sat after midnight: the satay street side gets loud and the seats near the screens went an hour before kickoff for the big matches.
