Eventfool Supermarket: Our April Fools Joke, Explained

What the post claimed

The post announced Singapore's first underwater supermarket, selling only legendary snacks, at Blk 182 Seabed Avenue, Marina South Coast, with a permanent 50 per cent discount from 1 April 2026. Every part of that is invented, including the postal code. Marina South is real, a seabed address is not, and no supermarket runs a permanent half-price policy and survives.

Why we are writing this down

Joke posts outlive the day they were posted. Someone searches the name in November, finds the Instagram post with no date visible, and takes it seriously. So the page exists to say plainly that it was a joke, which is the same reason we mark finished events as finished rather than leaving them reading as current. If you want things that are genuinely happening, our events roundups and the weekend guide are the real ones.

The nostalgic snack part was the point

The joke worked because the snack list was the real memory. Everyone has a shortlist of discontinued or hard-to-find childhood snacks they would drive across the island for, and that is a genuinely good conversation.
