Brooklyn Bar on Ann Siang Road serves beef birria tacos for $21: beef slow-cooked for eight hours, pan-fried in the tortilla and served with a cup of consommé to dip. It is the food item reviewers mention most.
Birria is a Mexican braise. The tortilla gets fried in the fat off the stew, then filled with the meat, and the leftover broth comes on the side as a dip. Messy by design.
Brooklyn Bar's version uses beef marinated in chillies and spices and cooked for eight hours, pan-fried until crisp, topped with cilantro and served with grilled lime. The menu literally warns you they are messy. Get napkins early.
Is it worth $21?
For a bar plate, yes. You get three tacos plus the consommé, and one reviewer liked the dip enough to call it amazing. It is a sharing plate for two with drinks, or dinner for one.

When to go
The bar opens at 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, at 14 Ann Siang Road. Tacos and a drink straight after work on a Tuesday or Wednesday catch the Eventful Tables deal: Tue and Wed, 5pm to 8pm: 10% off food and drinks. Only 10 bookings per timing.
