Attack on Titan: The Musical runs at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands from 15 April to 2 May 2027, performed in Japanese with English surtitles, and tickets are on sale now from S$58 to S$188 before booking fees. Until 1 November 2026, UOB cardholders get 20% off every category and everyone else gets 15% off most of them. Our caption on the post was ITS A FIDGET SPINNER, because the ODM gear spinning on an actor's hip looks exactly like one, and we stand by that. It is also the first time the original Japanese production plays anywhere in Asia outside Japan.
It is a 2.5D musical, the Japanese genre where manga and anime get staged with live actors, choreography and a lot of stage tech. This one has a cast of 27, is directed by Go Ueki, and covers the early chapters of Hajime Isayama's manga up to the Battle of Trost, condensed and reordered for the stage. It opened in Osaka and Tokyo in January 2023, played New York City Center in October 2024, then went home for more runs. The songs are original, except that Guren no Yumiya, the first anime opening, is in the show. About the fidget spinner: the cast wear the omni-directional mobility gear on stage and the spinning blades are what sold us, even before the Colossal Titan head came out over the back wall.
If anime on a stage is your thing, the Demon Slayer exhibition at the Sports Hub Library is the other big one we covered this year.
