Village Encounters Holland Village: 29 to 30 August 2026 Guide

Village Encounters Holland Village: 29 to 30 August 2026 Guide

Village Encounters takes over the Holland Village precinct on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2026, 4pm to 10pm on both days, and walking in costs nothing. It sets up in front of Holland Piazza at 3 Lor Liput, and it is the first stop of District After Dark, a new precinct series organised by SNBA with Enterprise Singapore and run by festival director Invade.

What is on at Village Encounters

The whole stretch of Lor Mambong and Lor Liput turns into an open-air playground from late afternoon into the night. The Social Games Zone is the loud bit: giant beer pong, life-sized chess with knee-high pieces, cornhole and a few other things you play standing up. There is a Family Zone doing free neon face painting and neon airbrush tattoos, live DJs and performances once it gets dark, and the whole thing is pet-friendly, so bring the dog. It is one of three free events happening that same weekend, which we covered in our roundup of free things to do in Singapore this August. Entry is free on both days and there is no ticket to buy or register for.

How to get a Village Encounters festival pass

This is the part people get wrong. The pass is not sold and it is not online. You spend at least $30 in a single receipt at any participating merchant in the Holland Village precinct, and you ask for a festival pass at the counter. The $30 is counted before GST and service charge, so a $28 bill that hits $32 after service charge does not qualify. Passes are limited and handed out first-come, first-served, so the ones that get cleared out first are the popular F&B spots on a Friday night. Hold on to it and bring it down on 29 or 30 August. It unlocks free drinks, a free keycap keychain workshop, a free photobooth print and a shot at a $5 cash voucher. Collect all the stamps on the pass over the weekend and you can swap it for one HIDDEN Trail ticket, worth $49.90, which is a self-guided puzzle trail you play around Holland Village on your phone.

Which shops are giving out festival passes

Sixteen merchants across the precinct are handing them out. On the Lor Mambong and Lor Liput stretch: Sweet Cheeks (24 Lor Mambong), Bark and Brew (34 Lor Mambong), 87 Just Thai (34B Lor Mambong), 49 Seats (46 Lor Mambong), Holland Bar L'Operetta (23 Lor Mambong), Wala Wala Cafe Bar (31 Lor Mambong), Yoshinoya (8 Lor Mambong), La Nonna (26/26B Lor Mambong), Project Acai (27 Lor Liput) and Birds of Paradise (3 Lor Liput, #01-01 Holland Piazza). Inside One Holland Village at 7 Holland Village Way: Hyggerium (#02-41), SnackFirst (#02-16), Bottles and Bottles (#01-52), Nailz Treats (#03-34) and Capitol Optical (#02-12/13). Angie's Fashion is over at Holland Road Shopping Centre, #02-14B. Two full meals at 87 Just Thai or one round at Wala Wala will clear $30 without trying.

Good to know

· Holland Village MRT on the Circle Line puts you a two minute walk from Holland Piazza. Driving on a Saturday night around Lor Mambong is not worth the effort.

· Sort your festival pass on an earlier visit if you can. Passes are first-come, first-served and the F&B counters run out fastest.

· The $30 minimum is before GST and service charge, so check the subtotal on the receipt, not the final amount.

· Go on the earlier side. It opens at 4pm and the games zone is far easier to actually get on before the after-dinner crowd lands.
