Yes, mostly. We went to Taman Connaught Night Market in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, in March 2026 and the verdict was some hit or miss food, but most of it pretty damn good and cheap, with dishes running RM3 to RM20. When we went it ran on Wednesdays only, from 5pm to 1am, along Jalan Cerdas, though most stalls were packing up by about 10.30pm.
This is the one people call KL's longest pasar malam, and it earns the crowd. The strip runs roughly 2km down Jalan Cerdas, by most counts, and by 8pm you are shuffling, not walking. It is a different animal from a Singapore pasar malam: longer, cheaper, and heavier on proper cooked food rather than just fried snacks on sticks. If you want the SG comparison, our pasar malam food tier list is the home version.
Honest scorecard: not every stall hit, and we said so in the reel. But the hit rate was high enough, and the prices low enough, that a miss only cost you a few ringgit. You stop worrying and just keep buying.
A bowl of laksa with thick rice noodles in a thick, dark broth, eaten at a folding table with plastic stools. Fried tofu buried under shredded cabbage and chilli sauce, which is as messy as it sounds. And a strawberry folded into cream inside a soft wrap, from the kind of dessert stall that pulls a queue because it looks good on camera.
That spread is the point of Connaught. Noodles, snacks and dessert, three stalls apart, none of it expensive.
Most things we bought sat between RM3 and RM20, which is the main reason Singaporeans make the trip on a KL weekday. Bring cash in small notes, it is quicker at the busy stalls.
The address is 68 Jalan Cerdas, Taman Connaught, 56000 Kuala Lumpur. Taman Connaught MRT station on the Kajang line is the closest station. If you are already in Cheras, Lingtang Claypot Coffee does claypot coffee late into the night if you want a drink after.
· Go early, around 6pm. By 8pm the crowd is shoulder to shoulder.
· Most stalls started closing around 10.30pm when we went, even though the market officially ran later.
· It is a Wednesday-only market, so plan the KL trip around it and check the market is running that week before you go.
· Buy small portions from more stalls. At these prices a miss costs you very little.
