What happened at Pink Dot 18
The 18th edition leaned smaller and more conversational than previous years. Instead of one big main-stage programme, the field was split into four themed villages: Love, Grow, Be and Together. Love covered relationships and family, Grow covered school and work, Be covered identity, and Together covered community and support networks. The initials spell LGBT, which the organisers have said is a coincidence. The afternoon ran on pop-up performances, roving acts and picnics, then closed with the soapbox speeches and the light-up, which is still the part everyone stays for. It is one of the few free, genuinely all-ages gatherings on the Singapore calendar, alongside things like precinct street festivals that also run on public land.
Who can attend, and what you need to bring
Hong Lim Park is a Speakers' Corner site, so the rules are set by the Public Order Act, not by Pink Dot. Only Singapore citizens and PRs are allowed inside the barricaded event space, and everyone needs valid ID: NRIC, passport or driving licence. Children under 7 must come with a citizen or PR, and 7 to 16 year olds need a school ID EZ-link card or a passport. Entry is free and there is no ticket.

Nothing is sold on site, so bring your own food and drinks and a refillable water bottle. Bring a torch with fresh batteries if you want to take part in the light-up, because phone torches are dim by comparison and your battery will be gone by 8pm. Leashed pets are allowed. Sharp objects, loudhailers and laser pointers get confiscated, vapes are not allowed, and the whole park is no-smoking.
