National Theatre Live Returns to Esplanade in December: Four Plays to Choose From

1 November 2026

Esplanade’s December National Theatre Live programme brings four recorded stage productions to the Singtel Waterfront Theatre from 3–6 December. These are screenings, not appearances by the actors in Singapore.

The Misanthrope: 3 and 5 December, 7.30pm

Sandra Oh stars in Martin Crimp’s reworking of Molière, directed by Indhu Rubasingham. It follows a novelist whose insistence on speaking honestly puts her at odds with her social circle. The screening lasts 1 hour 43 minutes without an interval.

Admission is currently listed as six and above, but the final rating is still to be advised and may add restrictions. Check again before booking for children.

All My Sons: 4 December, 7.30pm

Bryan Cranston and Marianne Jean-Baptiste feature in Arthur Miller’s family drama, directed by Ivo Van Hove. Its wartime business decisions carry consequences that do not disappear when peace returns.

This screening lasts 2 hours 25 minutes without an interval, is rated PG and admits ages six and above.

Life of Pi: 5 December, 2pm

The encore screening uses puppetry and stagecraft to tell the story of a shipwreck survivor sharing a lifeboat with a tiger. Lolita Chakrabarti adapts Yann Martel’s novel, with Max Webster directing.

Allow 2 hours 30 minutes including a 20-minute interval. It is PG for some frightening scenes, with admission for ages six and above.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses: 6 December, 2pm

Lesley Manville and Aidan Turner lead Christopher Hampton’s adaptation, directed by Marianne Elliott. It centres on manipulation, desire and a destructive rivalry among wealthy socialites.

This is the adults-and-older-teens option: NC16 for a sexual scene and some nudity, with admission strictly for ages 16 and above. The three-hour screening includes a 20-minute interval.

Tickets, subtitles and access

Standard tickets are S$28 per screening, with limited concession categories listed from S$24. Seating is free seating. All four listings specify English subtitles, a relaxed environment and assistive listening.

The early-bird package ended on 28 October. Use the current ticket selector for any remaining member offers, available seats and the final checkout amount rather than an old promotion screenshot.
