In Plain Sight is a home-based cafe at Blk 157 Serangoon North Avenue 1, doing fresh Arabica espresso and whisked-to-order matcha for pickup from $4.50. Orders go through tabaous.com/inplainsightcafe, collection runs 7am to 5pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends, and the nearest MRT is Hougang, roughly a 20 minute bus ride out.
The menu splits three ways. Coffee starts at $4.50 for an iced americano and $5.50 for an iced latte, with the flavoured ones at $5.90: caramel, vanilla, spanish, peanut butter, nutella, and an iced orange americano. Iced biscoff latte is the outlier at $6.90. Matcha is whisked to order, $5.90 for the plain iced matcha latte, $6.40 for matcha earl grey, and $6.90 for the fruit ones, strawberry, blueberry, fig, and a sparkling Jeju yuzu matcha. The third section is the non-coffee, non-matcha stuff at $5.90 flat: sparkling yuzu, sparkling blueberry, sparkling strawberry, and an iced chocolate oreo. This is episode four of us working through the home-based businesses people keep sending us, and the pricing here is the most normal-cafe of any so far.
Three drinks: iced sparkling strawberry, iced biscoff latte, iced blueberry matcha latte. The biscoff latte was the pick. The biscoff compliments the coffee rather than burying it, so you still taste the espresso underneath and it takes the edge off the bitterness. Sweet, but not the syrup bomb these usually turn into.
The blueberry matcha is the one to think about. The matcha itself is strong and you get the earthiness properly, which is the right problem to have, but the blueberry barely comes through. If you want to taste fruit, that is not the one. If you want a serious matcha with a bit of something behind it, it works.
The sparkling series is the easy order. Fizzy, light, $5.90, and it is the thing to get when someone in the group does not drink coffee and you do not want to make it a whole discussion.

Ordering is through tabaous.com/inplainsightcafe. Pickup is at Blk 157 Serangoon North Avenue 1, S550157, and it is a home-based operation, so it is a collection point rather than a place to sit and work. Hours are 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, which makes the 7am weekday start the genuinely useful bit if you are heading out that way anyway. They take bulk orders and events, and there are WhatsApp and Telegram links on the ordering page for that. The honest catch is the location. Hougang is the nearest MRT and it is still about 20 minutes on the bus, so this is a stop you build into a trip rather than a detour you make for one coffee.
· Order ahead on tabaous.com/inplainsightcafe rather than turning up. It is a home-based pickup point, not a shop counter.
· Weekday collection opens at 7am, earlier than most cafes in the area, so it works as a commute stop if you are already heading east.
· Get the biscoff latte if you want coffee you can still taste, and the plain matcha latte if you want the matcha to lead.
· Budget 20 minutes on the bus from Hougang MRT. There is no closer station, so build it into the trip.

From $4.50 for an iced americano and $5.50 for an iced latte. Most flavoured lattes, matcha lattes and sparkling drinks are $5.90, with the biscoff latte and fruit matcha lattes at $6.90.
7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Through their online store at tabaous.com/inplainsightcafe, then collect at the Serangoon North address. They also take bulk orders and event orders through the WhatsApp and Telegram links on that page.
It is strong and properly earthy, whisked to order rather than pre-mixed. The trade-off is that the fruit versions, blueberry in particular, are hard to taste under it, so order the plain matcha latte if the matcha is the point.
