IKEA Free Oat Ice Cream Cone, Feb 2026: The Soy to Oat Switch

What actually changed

For years the 50 cent IKEA cone was soy soft serve. IKEA's own Swedish Bistro menu still listed "Soy ice-cream, made of soy, $0.50" on 1 February 2026. By early March it read "Oat vanilla ice cream cone, 100% plant based and dairy-free, $0.50".

IKEA's post called it an "oat-grade". Same price, same swirl, different base. The free cone weekend was the launch. The same month, IKEA Tampines also ran its Ramadan dinner, covered in our Buffet Istimewa piece.

How the free cone worked

It ran for two days only, 17 and 18 February 2026, which were also the first two days of Chinese New Year. You had to be an IKEA Family member, which is free to sign up for, and show it at the Swedish Bistro.

Our caption's worry at the time was simple: does it still taste as good. We did not run a side-by-side, so we will not pretend to know. What we can say is the price did not move, which at IKEA is the part people really watch.

What the IKEA cone costs now

As of 5 October 2026, IKEA's Swedish Bistro menu lists the oat vanilla cone at $0.50. IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra also sell a strawberry soft serve, made of strawberry and vanilla, at $1.50.
