Brooklyn Bar at 14 Ann Siang Road is a cocktail bar built around hip-hop: the music, the cocktail names and the Brooklyn street food. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm to midnight, with cocktails from $25.
Hip-hop and R&B. One Google reviewer, an older millennial, said the 90s rap and R&B took her straight back to secondary school. Another came on a quiet Friday and said the music was the best part.
It is a bar with a soundtrack, not a club. You can still talk across the table.
The drinks lean into it. Cole Gold World ($26) is a margarita named after a J. Cole track, with tequila, mezcal, tropical juices and chilli bitters. The food is named after Brooklyn neighbourhoods: the DUMBO pizza ($28) and the Bushwick Baja fish tacos ($21).
Every drink with price is in our cocktail menu guide, and the food is in our food guide.
Brick walls, lit arches behind the bar and blue booths, plus an outdoor deck. The bar's own site describes it as illuminated arches, brick walls and hip-hop culture, which is about right.
Friday and Saturday get busy. If you want the music without the crowd, go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, when Eventful Tables bookings also get 10% off food and drinks from 5pm to 8pm (only 10 bookings per timing).
