We run a $50 giveaway every month for @eventful_sg followers, drawn at random, and the entry is following us. That is the whole mechanic. This post is the one where we hand an iPad to strangers in a mall and film their reaction, which is a more honest ad than any caption we could write. Since giveaway scams are everywhere, here is how ours works and how to tell a real one from a fake.
One winner a month, $50, picked at random from followers. No purchase, no form, no "send us your bank details to verify".
We announce and contact the winner through our own account. We will never ask you to pay a fee, click a payout link, or send OTPs or card numbers to claim anything.
We publish the winners too, see the July 2026 draw.
The reason it exists is straightforward: we are a food and events account, and the people who follow us are the people who show up to the things we cover. Giving $50 back monthly is cheap compared to what an ad costs, and more fun.
The tells are consistent and worth knowing, because giveaway impersonation on Instagram is constant.
A second account DMs you saying you won. Check the handle character by character. Scammers use lookalikes with an extra letter or an underscore.
There is a fee to claim. There is never a fee. A giveaway that asks for money to release a prize is a scam, every single time.
They want card details, OTPs or your bank login. No legitimate giveaway needs any of those to pay you $50.
Urgency. "Claim in 30 minutes or it goes to someone else" is pressure, not policy.
If you are unsure, reply on the original post rather than in DMs, and check that the account contacting you is the one you actually follow. More about what we do at what Eventful actually runs.
· We never ask for a fee, card details or OTPs to release a prize. Nobody legitimate does.
· Check the handle letter by letter if someone DMs saying you won. Lookalike accounts are the standard scam.
· Urgency is the tell. A real giveaway does not give you 30 minutes to claim.
One winner a month, $50, drawn at random from @eventful_sg followers. Following the account is the entry. There is no purchase and no form.
We contact the winner from our own account. We will never ask for a fee, card details, OTPs or a bank login to release a prize.
Three tells: a lookalike account DMs you saying you won, there is a fee to claim, or they ask for card details or OTPs. Any of those means it is a scam.
