Cold Storage and Giant Join Unit-Pricing Pilot on 1 Nov
Cold Storage and Giant join the expanded supermarket unit-pricing pilot from 1 November 2026. The labels show a comparable price per weight, volume or quantity alongside the selling price, making different pack sizes easier to compare.

What changes on the shelf
The pilot covers selected groceries and household products, including rice, milk, cooking oil, snacks, detergent and diapers. CCS says Cold Storage and Giant outlets are included, but product coverage can differ between stores. This is a trial, not a promise that every item will carry a label.

How to use a unit price
Compare like-for-like products using the same measurement. A hypothetical 500g pack at $4 costs $0.80 per 100g; a 750g pack at $5.25 costs $0.70 per 100g. The second is cheaper by weight, even though its checkout price is higher. These are worked examples, not live supermarket prices.
A lower unit price is only useful if you will use the quantity. Consider storage space, expiry dates and what you actually need.
Who else is taking part
FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Prime Supermarket, selected Don Don Donki stores and RedMart began their expanded pilots on 1 October. Operators participate for eight weeks. Sheng Siong and RedMart also introduced selected online unit prices, with other online rollouts progressive.
