How the free tastings actually worked

This is a retailer's festival, not a ticketed tasting event, so the pours are samples handed out at brand booths rather than a fixed flight you pay for. More than 500 brands and over 1,000 labels were in the hall, covering whisky, wine, sake, craft spirits and beer. You walk, you taste, you buy at festival pricing if something lands. Free entry has one condition

Admission was free for registered Cellarbration members who were 18 and over. Signing up is free, so the practical advice is to register before you go rather than at the door. The 18+ rule is enforced at a tasting event, so bring ID.

Pace it, because five hundred brands is not a challenge

The honest warning nobody gives at these things: samples are small but they compound, and a hall with a thousand labels is designed to keep you moving from booth to booth. Eat first, drink water between pours, and treat the spittoons as normal rather than a waste. The people who leave happy are the ones who picked three or four categories and skipped the rest.
