BreadTalk Pistachio Kunafa Shio Pan: $3.90 at All Outlets

17 August 2026 · From our Instagram
BreadTalk Pistachio Kunafa Shio Pan: $3.90 at All Outlets

BreadTalk has put two new flavours on its shio pan: Pistachio Kunafa at $3.90 a piece and Honey Butter at $2.30. BreadTalk says both are at all outlets now. The pistachio one is the reason to make the trip, a salted roll dusted dark and packed with pistachio cream and toasted kunafa threads for under four dollars.

What is in the Pistachio Kunafa Shio Pan

Shio pan is the Japanese salted butter roll BreadTalk already sells: croissant-style dough rolled around butter, baked until the base goes crisp and a little greasy in the good way, finished with salt. This version takes that and fills it with pistachio cream and kunafa, the very fine shredded pastry that gets toasted into crunchy threads. That is the Dubai chocolate flavour, in a bun, for $3.90.

If you have been working through this flavour around town, we wrote up Munchi Pancakes' Pistachio Kunafa min jiang kueh in July, and Yoajung's Dubai chewy cookie before that. BreadTalk's is the cheapest of the three and the easiest to find, since there is a BreadTalk in most malls.

The Honey Butter Shio Pan, and which one to get

The second flavour is Honey Butter at $2.30, which is the plain shio pan idea done properly: honey and butter, nothing else fighting for attention. It is $1.60 cheaper than the pistachio and it is the one we would buy two of.

Our honest take: get one of each. The pistachio is the one you post, the honey butter is the one you actually finish on the walk to the MRT.

Both are bakery items, so they are baked in batches through the day rather than sitting in a warmer. A shio pan that has been out for hours loses the crisp base, which is most of the point.

Where to get them and how long they are around

BreadTalk's own post says to grab them at all BreadTalk outlets, and there are BreadTalk counters in most large malls, so your nearest one is probably the mall you already go to. No end date has been announced, so we are not going to tell you it is here for a limited time when BreadTalk has not said that.

What we would plan around instead is the bake schedule. New flavours at busy outlets go in the late afternoon crowd, and the last tray of the day is usually gone before closing. Morning or just after lunch is the safe window.

Good to know

· Ask when the next tray is coming out. A shio pan straight from the oven has the crisp base, one that has sat since morning does not.

· The pistachio is $3.90 and the honey butter is $2.30, so a pair is $6.20 before you talk yourself into a third.

· No end date has been announced, but new flavours move fast at the busier mall outlets. Go before the after-work crowd.

FAQs

How much is BreadTalk's Pistachio Kunafa Shio Pan?

$3.90 a piece. The new Honey Butter Shio Pan alongside it is $2.30 a piece.

Where can I buy it?

BreadTalk says both new shio pan flavours are available at all BreadTalk outlets in Singapore.

What is kunafa?

Kunafa, also spelled kataifi, is a Middle Eastern pastry made of very fine shredded dough that is toasted until crisp. Paired with pistachio cream it is the filling that made the Dubai chocolate bar go viral.

What is a shio pan?

A Japanese salted butter roll. Croissant-style dough is wrapped around a piece of butter and baked, which crisps the base and leaves a hollow, buttery middle, then it is finished with salt.

Is it a limited time launch?

BreadTalk has not announced an end date. It introduced both flavours as new additions to its shio pan range rather than as a limited run.
