TreeTop Walk: plan the hike, not just the bridge

Sources checked 1 November 2026

The TreeTop Walk is a 250m suspension bridge inside Central Catchment Nature Reserve. From Windsor Nature Park, NParks’ recommended loop is about 7km and takes three to four hours.

Choose that hike if your group wants a proper forest walk. For a shorter outing, Windsor has easier loops that let you finish closer to the entrance.

Choose the route your group can finish

Decide how far you want to walk before setting off. Pick one of these routes to match your group’s time and fitness.

TreeTop Walk loop

Windsor Nature Park to Central Catchment Nature Reserve

NParks grades the 7km loop moderate to difficult. Follow the signed trail and the one-way flow across the bridge. The route is not suitable for young children or visitors who cannot manage a demanding forest trail. Consult NParks’ full suitability advisory before committing.

Venus Loop

Windsor Nature Park

An easier 1.8km loop mixing boardwalk and natural trail. NParks estimates 45 minutes. This gives you a forest walk without the TreeTop commitment.

The combined 2.2km loop takes about an hour. It includes steps and an elevated boardwalk, so “easy” does not mean completely step-free.

Getting to the right entrance

Use 30 Venus Drive for Windsor Nature Park. NParks lists a 1.2km approach from Upper Thomson MRT along Upper Thomson Road, or 1.1km from Bright Hill MRT via Sin Ming Avenue. Those approach distances are extra to the trail.

The Windsor carpark is free and opens 7am–7pm. Vehicles cannot enter or leave outside those hours. Do not use a generic MacRitchie pin if you intend to start at Windsor.

Opening hours are not your arrival target

The reserve opens 7am–7pm, but the bridge closes earlier. Last entry at 4.45pm is the bridge’s cutoff, not a sensible time to begin a three-hour route. Leave enough daylight for the return walk.

Stay on marked trails. NParks says to avoid forested areas during and immediately after bad weather. Pets and bicycles are not allowed in the reserve. There is no authorised public route to the Shinto Shrine, so skip directions that send you off-trail.

Before setting off

Check the current park notice and weather, carry drinking water and use proper walking footwear. Save the official route map before you enter. If the group decides against the bridge, choose one Windsor loop and finish there.

For food after the walk, the Upper Thomson food guide is a separate planning stop, not part of the trail.
