This is Joston's video pitch, posted 20 October 2025, for our first networking event four days later at Cheeselads. The three reasons he gave business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs: learn directly from the founders of Cheeselads, Lau Wang Claypot and Repair.sg, meet seasoned owners of 7 to 8 figure businesses, and most of all, make genuine connections.
The first two are what every networking event promises. Founders on a mic, successful people in the room. The third is the one he said most mattered: make genuine connections.
That came straight out of his founder video a week earlier, where the hardest part of starting out was not knowing anybody. A room where people actually talk to each other was the fix he wanted to build.
The event was limited to 25 pax. Small on purpose. At 25 you can meet everyone in two hours. At 100 you meet the three people nearest the bar.
It ran 8pm to 10pm on 24 October 2025 at Cheeselads, 117 Tyrwhitt Road, with two glasses of red wine and a cheese tasting platter per ticket. The poster and guest names are in the announcement.
Mostly yes, and partly no. The room filled, people stayed, and the guests talked. But the night was pure mingling with no set topic, and the featured guests barely got time to speak. We said so openly in our second event recap, and changed the format. Night one's own recap is here.
ยท Go to a networking event with one question you want answered. It gives you a reason to walk up to someone.
ยท Smaller rooms beat bigger ones if your goal is real connections rather than business cards.
