Hougang Pasar Malam Jan 2026: What We Ate and What It Cost

The Hougang pasar malam set up right beside Hougang MRT Exit B in January 2026 and, according to our post, ran till 15 February 2026. Most items cost $4 to $7: Spudzilla potatoes from $4, Thai tea from $4, Ramly burgers from $4.50 and Thai food from $7. That edition has ended, so read this as a record of what it was like.

What we tried at the Hougang pasar malam

Our table ended up with a Spudzilla loaded potato covered in cheese sauce, corn and fried shallots, a second one with sausage and a pink mayo drizzle, a Ramly burger with the egg wrapped round the patty, Thai milk tea and green tea, a box of spicy Thai-style fried noodles and a minced meat basil rice with a fried egg. Plus a slab of apam balik for dessert.

It was smaller than usual, and our reel said so. But the stalls that were there were good. Want to know which pasar malam staples are worth the queue in general? Our pasar malam food tier list puts the Ramly burger in S-tier, which matched what we ate here.

How much things cost when we went

The rough rule at this edition was $4 to $7 per item. Spudzilla's board said baked potatoes from $4, and you built your own: pick a topping, a protein like beef chilli con carne or pulled beef, then a sauce from chilli crab to mala.

Thai tea was from $4 and the Ramly burger stall started at $4.50. Thai food, the noodles and rice boxes, began at $7, the most expensive thing on our table.

The durian stall

The one stall we did not expect was durian, with a wall of whole fruit and rows of packed boxes. Musang King was $8 a box, and the old tree Musang King, marked good taste, was $15 a box.

That is cheap for Musang King, and the boxes looked full, but durian quality swings a lot week to week. Open the box and look before you pay if the uncle lets you.
