Northpoint City takes the north at 9/10, Causeway Point follows on 8, Wisteria Mall and Canberra Plaza both get 7, and Sun Plaza and Sembawang Shopping Centre land on 6. Yes, the top mall in this list is in Yishun, which is rather the point.
Northpoint City, 9/10. Genuinely has everything, and we still get lost in it after years of going. Two wings and a linkway will do that.
Causeway Point, 8/10. A solid mall and the last real food stop before the Causeway. We eat here before every JB trip.
Wisteria Mall, 7/10. Wingstop and CHAGEE are here, which is more than most neighbourhood malls can say. There is nowhere to sit and chill though.
Canberra Plaza, 7/10. Has one of the few Daisos left in the north, plus FairPrice, A&W and McDonald's on the same frontage.
Sembawang Shopping Centre, 6/10. It was so much better last time. That is the whole review.
Sun Plaza, 6/10. Pretty basic mall. Fine for what it is. Same series as our northeast mall ratings.
Yishun gets treated like a punchline and then Northpoint City outscores every other mall in the north. It sits right on the MRT and bus interchange, it has the tenant mix of a regional mall, and the Yishun Park Hawker Centre is a short ride away.
The joke has outlived the reason for it. If you have not been since the memes started, you are arguing about a mall that no longer exists in that form.
Going to JB: Causeway Point, eat first, then cross. It is the only one on this list positioned for that.
Doing a full shop: Northpoint City, and give yourself more time than you think because of the two wings.
Quick errand: whichever is nearest. Sun Plaza, Canberra Plaza and Wisteria are neighbourhood malls doing neighbourhood mall things, and none of them deserve a special trip.
· Northpoint City is two wings joined by a link. Check which wing your shop is in before you walk.
· Causeway Point is the last decent food stop before the Causeway. Eat before you queue.
· Canberra Plaza still has a Daiso, which is getting rare up north.
· Weekday afternoons are the only quiet window at Northpoint.
Northpoint City in Yishun, on our scoring. It has the widest tenant mix and sits on the MRT and bus interchange.
It is the practical choice. It is the last full size mall before the Causeway, so it is where we eat before crossing.
Wingstop and CHAGEE are the draws. The trade off is there is very little seating to hang around in.
